Managing Director & Chief
Digital Officer
What I do
I am responsible at board level for scaling the end-to-end digital value chain, covering customer platforms, product data, sourcing, service operations and core technology. My focus is on building sustainable operating models, robust platforms and governance structures that hold when intuition no longer scales. This work often involves aligning diverse executive and functional perspectives to establish shared understanding, clear ownership and decision-ready structures at scale.
Where I do it
I currently serve as Managing Director and Chief Digital Officer at Thomann, a leading global digital music retailer, with full responsibility for the company's digital business. In addition, I act in board-level contexts on digital strategy and organizational transformation. I serve as Vice President E-Commerce at the German E-Commerce Association (BEVH).
When companies bring me in
I am typically brought in when digital businesses reach a point where strategic, technological and organizational decisions move to board level — for example during post-founder scaling phases, in group-wide platform decisions under live P&L responsibility, or when alignment across multiple managing directors and markets becomes critical, particularly in complex and ambiguous environments where clarity has to be created before decisions can be made.
What I publish
As part of my board-related roles and activities, I publish on strategy, technology and regulation, with a focus on retail, commerce and media.
